aswimmetric: (and time goes quicker)

The number of heavy, pesky limitations on orientation is really starting to wear on Sousuke. He's not about to deny their use - no one wants a panicked, upset student hurting one of the mages, or a panicked, upset mage hurting anyone else - but it's hard to not find them wearying all the same. No talking, no fidgeting, hold your arm up and steady, pay attention, don't let your mind wander, no breaking eye contact until we're done, no touching the bracelet... It's all very restrictive and tiresome.

Especially when Sousuke already knows the mage in front of him.

He's a little surprised that not only has he run into Makoto here, so far away from his hometown, but the two of them have also managed to get assigned to each other out of all students at the college. Of course, it's not like they can just freely chatter with each other just yet, and Sousuke ends up staring Makoto down with an expression that's a little bit amused and little bit suspicious and absolutely nowhere near as friendly as his 'first' meeting with his partner for the next four years should be.

Sousuke manages to avoid getting too impatient as the connection between them as is established, but it's not until he feels a thin thread of power between the two of them that he finally solidify that he drops his gaze down to the bracelet again. He barely pays the instructor any mind as she repeats what they've both already heard several times now. Even then, it's not until she's ushered the both of them out of the room and called for the next pair that he finally speaks up.

"You're a long way from home." Not that Sosuke has a whole lot of room to talk.
